Mary Ellen worked for the Canadian Cooperative Association (CCA) from
1988 until 2001 when she retired. On her 50th birthday her colleagues
composed a song about Mary Ellen by adaptng the words of the Stan Rogers
song "The Mary Ellen Carter" and sang it at her party. It was the hit of
the night.
